The president of the tourist board of Costa del Sol, Fraile, put the emphasis on the importance of the British golf market segment, as there is already about one million players, 270,000 in Scotland, 280,000 in Ireland and 70,000 in Wales. Moreover, he underlined that the last studies reflect that those tourists have a high consideration on Málaga golf courses and also on the treatment they were offered.
The aim of Golf Tournament of Costa del Sol was to reach directly the final consumer and it was focused on British supporters. From their point of view, the tournament was promoted in various specialized medias in United Kingdom. In the first phases, there were about 1,000 people taking part of it. Among them, 36 couples reached the final round. They competed for the tournament victory until the 27th of November in Costa del Sol golf courses, in Atalaya, Parador de Málaga, Santana Golf, La Quinta, Alcaidesa and Valderrama.
Meanwhile, a journalists'tournament was planned, with 24 representatives of various United Kingdom medias. They competed against 12 other journalists who represented the Costa del Sol-España team
